Once, when Jesus was eating with a bunch of “rejects,” the teachers of religious law asked his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?” Jesus responded: “Healthy people don’t need a doctor – sick people do. I have come to call sinners to turn from their sins, not to spend my time with those who think they are already good enough.”
Thank God, Jesus accepts rejects. I would be in deep trouble if Jesus only accepted the good guys. I am extremely thankful I was sick enough to get an audience with the Master. I don’t know about you but I was hopeless until Jesus stepped into my life. I am not the only one there are many of us, in fact, there a millions of us who were bad enough to need a savior. There was no earthly way for me to clean up my act. It was an impossible task, I tried a few times but I could never quit make the grade. Then one day I admitted I was powerless and in desperate need of help. It was then He came to me and lifted me up and out of the pit I was in. You see I don’t have to tell stories of rejects I was one.
Today, I am an awesome spiritual being of great worth in the sight of God because Jesus accepted a reject like me. God, Jesus, is in the business of accepting geek stuff, freaks, drunks, prostitutes, thieves, and losers. But once you taste the love Jesus gives life takes on new meaning. If fact He takes the geeks, drunks etc and gives us the power to change.
If you fall into the category loser I want you to know Jesus cares for you. I don’t care what the world says about Jesus. I know He is getting a bad wrap these days. But, the truth is He works. Try Him out and see if I am lying. Give your life to Him. Reach up from the bottom of whatever pit you’re in and ask Him to come into your life, forgive your sins, and see what happens. I promise life will change. Now, that doesn’t mean life isn’t going to be hard. Life will always be hard but you will never have to face life alone. Give Jesus a shot. Don’t listen to those who condemn Jesus. Stand up and be your own person, and make your own decision about Jesus. Don’t do I like did and have a belly full of contempt prior to investigation. Go for it, what do you have to lose.
