Canvas Printing

A canvas print is an image that has been digitally printed onto a stretched or gallery-wrapped canvas attached to a frame for display, with the additional option of coating with gesso to keep oil paint from coming directly into contact with the fibers of the canvas. A flexible, traditional chalk gesso consists of lead carbonate and linseed oil applied over a rabbit skin glue ground. Then the image goes around the sides of the frame, which allows it to be continued or reflected onto the four sides of the canvas.

With a properly prepared canvas, the painter will find that each subsequent layer of color glides on thickly, and that with the appropriate consistency of application, a painting devoid of any brushstrokes can be achieved. An iron on an ironing board, set to the warm setting, is then applied to a piece of wet cotton in order to flatten out any wrinkles.

Giclee Canvas Prints

If you want to decorate your walls, get Giclee canvas prints. Giclee canvas prints have the following advantages: They are amazingly beautiful They are affordable They consist of virtually any imaginable color They are highly durable They can last for decades

Giclee is a newly coined term for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word “Giclee” comes from from the French language word “le gicleur”, which means “nozzle” or “to squirt, spurt, or spray”. It was coined by Jack Duganne, a printmaker working in the field, in 1991, to represent any inkjet-based digital print used as fine art. The intent of the name was to distinguish commonly known industrial “Iris proofs” from the type of fine art prints artists were producing on those same types of ink-jet printers. Giclee canvas printing is the process whereby a close duplication of an original work of art is produced. This ensures that the final product will be as beautiful as the original.

Another advantage of Giclee canvas prints is that they’re affordable. Those who can’t buy highly expensive art works or get their photos turned into art can decorate their homes with inexpensive Giclee canvas prints. They can be customized to suit your personal taste and requirements. And Giclee canvas prints can be used for years without any change in its quality. The prime reason for its durability is that an abstract Giclee print is made with fade resistant inks and dyes and is then coated with protective varnish to protect it against water and other kinds of damage.
